Membership Categories

Sustaining Member
Sustaining Member contributions provide the financial resources needed for the development of the organization and for its continued efforts to advocate on behalf of biomass thermal energy at the local, state, and federal levels. Upon application approval, all Sustaining Members receive special recognition on the BTEC website and in promotional materials, and may designate a Director to serve on the Board, up to a bylaw-defined limit.

Biomass Fuel Member
Categoy includes companies that generate more than 50% of their revenues from the manufacturing, distribution, or trading of biomass fuel products primarily for thermal applications. Including, but not limited to:

  • Biomass fuel manufacturers
  • Biomass fuel distributors
  • Biomass fuel traders

Biomass Appliance Member
Category includes companies that manufacture or distribute biomass thermal appliances and equipment and are not eligible for any of the other categories. Including, but not limited to:

  • Appliance and equipment manufacturers
  • Distributors and traders of biomass thermal appliance and heating equipment

Biomass Supply Chain Member
Companies involved in biomass thermal energy that wish to become a member and are not eligible for any of the other categories. Including, but not limited to:

  • Feedstock companies
  • Forest and land management companies
  • Logging companies / Mobilization companies
  • Manufacturers of equipment serving biomass thermal energy markets
  • Commercial and residential appliance manufacturers
  • Capital investment companies
  • Architects, engineers, and other consultants
  • Insurance companies
Non-Profit Member
All allied non-profit organizations and educational institutions that wish to become a member.

Education and Government Associates

All allied government and educational institutions that wish to become an associate (similar to member standing). Governmental and Education Associates are granted access to members-only educational materials, membership communications and activities, and participation on available committees.

However, BTEC Government & Education Associates are ineligible from serving as committee Chairs, Board Members, and voting during the annual and semi-annual elections.  Associates may retain full member participation through payment of the lowest membership dues tier.

Membership Dues
Membership dues are for four quarters of membership. Your membership period begins when your application is approved and payment is processed.

Except for non-profit and government organizations, universities, and Sustaining Members, all members pay dues based on their company’s most recent gross annual revenues.
