BTEC Announces Validation Testing on Biomass Boiler Efficiency Test Method

WASHINGTON, DC - August 11, 2017 - Today, the Biomass Thermal Energy Council (BTEC) announced that validation testing of its biomass boiler efficiency protocol will begin in September 2017 at ClearStak LLC, a Connecticut-based testing laboratory.  "We are pleased to be partnering with ClearStak LLC on this next important phase of the project.  Being an EPA- accredited laboratory, this brings third-party credibility to the process, as we continue to hone the protocol prior to final publication," said Jeff Serfass, BTEC Executive Director. The Biomass Thermal Utilization Act (BTU Act) of 2017 has been introduced in the House (H.R. 3161) and Senate (S. 1480). The BTU Act incentivizes the installation of residential, commercial, and industrial high-efficiency wood heating systems through an investment tax credit. Senator Wyden Unveils Energy Tax Reform
"Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today announced legislation to measurably reduce carbon pollution over the next decade through a series of incentives for clean energy and the promotion of new technologies in the private sector. Wyden’s Clean Energy for America Act includes technology-neutral tax credits for domestic production of clean electricity and clean transportation fuel, as well as performance-based tax incentives for energy-efficient homes and office buildings." This bill incentivizes thermal with CHP.
